❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about Remi Assistant, OS notifications, offline privacy, and settings.

👦 How does Remi Assistant work and where does Remi appear?

Remi is your intelligent floating mascot assistant. When a reminder fires:

3-Stage Animation Sequence: Remi plays an animated sequence (Welcome Wave → Idle Transition → Waiting Loop). Upon taking action or completing the reminder, Remi plays a celebration outro before closing.

Screen Position: Remi floats in your configured position (Top Right or Bottom Right).

Restricted Chrome Pages: Chrome security policies strictly prohibit floating content script overlays on internal browser tabs (such as chrome://newtab, chrome://settings, chrome://extensions, or Chrome Web Store). On these tabs, Reminderly automatically falls back to system browser notifications so you never miss an alert.

💻 Why are macOS or Windows system notifications not displaying?

If browser desktop notifications are not popping up, check your operating system settings:

macOS System Settings: Open Apple Menu  → System Settings → Notifications → Google Chrome. Ensure Allow Notifications is ON and Alert Style is set to Banners or Alerts.

macOS Focus Mode / Do Not Disturb: If Focus Mode or DND is active in the macOS menu bar, macOS silences banners unless Chrome is added to Focus → Allowed Apps.

Windows Notifications & Focus Assist: Open Windows Settings → System → Notifications & Focus Assist and ensure Google Chrome notifications are permitted.

🔊 Why is notification sound silent or muted?

Audio playback is subject to browser and operating system policies:

Web Audio Autoplay Policy: Modern browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave) require at least one user interaction (a click anywhere on a webpage) before Web Audio can synthesize or play sound chimes automatically.

Volume & Sound Tone Settings: Check Settings → Preferences & Audio to ensure notification volume is turned up and test your chosen sound tone (Glass Chime, Soft Dual Wave, Energetic Ring, or Classic Bell).

Background Tab Throttling: Browsers throttle inactive background timers to save battery (~1 min delay), but persistent alarms trigger sound chimes as soon as Chrome is active.

🧠 How does Focus Mode work?

Focus Mode helps you execute deep work sessions without distractions:

Preset & Custom Timers: Quickly launch 25-minute (Pomodoro), 45-minute, or Custom minute focus timers.

Website Blocker Integration: When active, listed distracting websites (e.g. YouTube, Reddit) show a full-page glassmorphic blocker overlay.

Smart Queueing: Non-critical reminders are held silently in the queue until your focus session completes.

🛡️ How does Smart Context-Aware Queueing work?

When Smart Context Awareness is enabled, Reminderly respects your workflow:

Priority Work Domains: While active on designated work domains (e.g., Notion, Figma, GitHub), non-critical reminders (Low & Medium) are held silently in the queue to protect your deep work state.

High Priority & Health Reminders: High-priority tasks and health breaks (Water, Eye Rest, Posture, Medicine) always deliver immediately regardless of site.

📦 What happens to passed one-time reminders and archived items?

Passed One-Time Reminders: One-time reminders automatically move to the Archive tab once their scheduled time passes. You can view, search, or permanently delete them from the Archive.

Restoring Reminders: Restoring a repeating reminder automatically recalculates its next future run time from the current moment.

🏥 What is the Health Hub & Auto Health Sync?

The Health Hub manages micro-breaks and daily wellness tracking:

Hydration Tracker: Track daily water glasses (+1 Glass button) with smart interval alerts.

20-20-20 Eye Rest & Posture Checks: Timed micro-breaks with live 20-second countdown timers.

Period & Cycle Tracker: Private menstrual cycle predictions and pre-period reminders.

Auto Health Sync: Fixed health break schedules automatically sync with your main active reminders list.

🔒 Is my health data and personal profile private?

100% Offline & Private! All your data—including reminders, focus stats, water logs, medication schedules, and user profile information—is stored strictly inside your local browser storage (chrome.storage.local). Zero data is collected or sent to any server.
